Mandatum Gold is a (non-UCITS) mutual fund whose assets are invested in gold derivatives, and liquid assets mainly in other mutual funds that invest their assets in fixed income instruments. The fund’s assets may also be invested in the equities of companies operating in gold-related sectors and in mutual funds that invest in them. The fund’s diversification level is low as the fund’s future performance will depend on the development of global gold prices. The fund is intended for experienced investors who wish to benefit from the changes in the value of gold and who can tolerate even substantial changes in the value of the investment. Due to its higher level of risk than in conventional mutual funds, the fund is recommended as a small part of a diversified investment portfolio. The recommended investment horizon in the fund is more than five years. As of 19 February 2007 the fund’s new benchmark index is the GSCI Gold Excess Return Index.
